We will have pins made for Ennead Members to wear so we can be recognized and maybe have people ask us who we are so maybe we can attract new members. Cindy Price and Ellen Patrick will be handing out the pins.

February, the month of love, is here. However, I want to take some time to reflect on January. Congratulations to the new 2012 Royal court of Ennead. They were ushered in at a majestic coronation on January 21st. Your Royal Court for 2012:

Queen Sahara the XXII Julie Eaves and King Ennead the XXII Richard Raichelson.

Duchesses: Peggy Edwards, Cindy Price, and Lillie Kay Mitchell.

Dukes: Bernie Krock, Greg Maksi, and Ricky Warren.

And a special treat - Flagman Dan Tucker. They will be wonderful representatives for the Krewe throughout the carnival season.

As with any great event, there are many people who made the cruise down Route 66 happen. Special thanks to our coronation chairman Barbara Baker for her remarkable work which made this a coronation to remember. Thanks to Marion Marr whose decorations created the Route 66 theme. I also want to thank our artist in residence Tayloe Nickey who painted the wonderful backdrop for our photo op. Another thanks goes to Mary Lee Boggs who with her new husband Carl helped out with our registration desk. And last, but not least, our MC for the evening David Brockmann, the man behind the mic.

I hope to see all of you attend at least one or more of the Coronations of the Grand Krewe’s of Carnival Memphis. These events give us a chance to support other Krewes and are great times for dancing and meeting and making friends!

Our annual fundraiser, Krewes for Kids, is coming up in April. Be sure to contact Jo Anne Qualls to offer your help and start collecting your auction items. February also brings Mardi Gras to Memphis. Your Krewe is planning on partying at the quintessential Mardi Gras spot, Owen Brennan’s. Join us on Fat Tuesday to party, catch some beads, and watch as we give out prizes to the members who are given the lucky pin to wear.

We want to thank the special members who open up their homes to everyone in Ennead. Charles Boone will be hosting a Super Bowl party. One of our newest members, LaMora Hiss, has already shown how generous she is by offering to host the Ennead poker party and the Ennead wine party this month. Thank you both.
