From Ennead Royalty... January 24, 2008 Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!! To everyone who worked so hard to make Saturday night the magical evening it was. That night will always be a special and forever memory for me, Charles, and the rest of the 2008 Royal Court. Sara, Carol, Pam, Betty, Marta, Llana, John, Bill, Nancy, and Carolyn and everyone on their committees, from the smallest task to the largest, I bow to you. How can I ever thank you enough? To the entire membership we invite all of you to join us this year in celebrating this Carnival season. Getting involved with Carnival Memphis is so rewarding. Many happy times, memories, and lasting friends are made throughout the year. “Party with a Purpose” with us towards raising funds for the three chosen charities this year; the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Carnival Memphis Kids Cafe and the Harwood Center. Please join us each Saturday night at the different Carnival Krewe coronations. Information about each one can be found on our web site at www.ennead.info/carnival_memphis.html. We look forward to seeing everyone there. We humbly thank you again, Queen Kathy Jacobs and King Charles Crumby, Ennead 2008

Article III, Section 2, Paragraph 2- Add the following sentence: "However, any member who chooses to marry during said current year may not be elected, or serve or hold any position as a member of the Board or as Royalty and must step down". Article X, Paragraph 2- Add the following sentence: "In the event a member of Royalty cannot fulfill his/her responsibilities, the Royalty Selection Committee shall be reconvened to select a replacement to finish out the year, if necessary". If any members have questions/concerns about these amendments, please contact any Board member. Ennead Board of Directors

Hip Hip Hooray!! The Grand Krewe of Ennead ushered in the 2008 Carnival Memphis season with splendor and elegance. I have received so many compliments from other krewe chairman and carnival officials on our coronation. Everyone had a wonderful time. Our Royal Court in their formal attire made a glittering entrance to the music of "Phantom of the Opera". King Ennead XVIII Charles Crumby, Queen Sahara XVIII Kathy Jacobs, Duchesses Joyce Hufford, Sandra Hurley, Vickie Rivers, Nancy Williams, Dukes Bill Carwell, Jimmy Humphreys, Bob Laurie, Jim Woods, and Flagman Mike Beck did Ennead proud. They will be wonderful representatives for the krewe throughout the carnival season. Space doesn't allow me to mention all the members who played key roles in making the evening a success but I must mention some who made Ennead's coronation such a success. Our Masters of Ceremony Llana Smith and John Rada scripted the event and kept the program flowing. Thank you, Llana and John. The Co-Chairs (Executive Producers) of coronation- Pam Smith, Carol Edwards and Sara Qualls- did a great job coordinating details with the Holiday Inn and the royalty. Thank you, ladies. A very special THANK YOU to Marta Vinzant (Scenery). Marta has year after year brought into reality the vision of the coronation theme. Marta's home and garage are filled for weeks with props and centerpieces she and her intrepid band of volunteers create. The "WOW" factor is always her signature and is appreciated by one and all. Marta, you're the best!! I would be remiss by not mentioning the contributions of Mary Rea who helped Marta through the weeks of preparation. The krewe also should be indebted to those who stayed afterwards to dismantle and pack up the decorations and get them back to storage. Al Owings was up on a ladder at 1 AM taking down twinkle lights, the stage mural and the chandelier hanging over the stage. Thanks, Al. Kudos to The Cast and 'Krewe' listed in the PLAYBILL who contributed to the production by handling registration, proclamations, escorts, publicity, former royalty party and lighting. We have a busy year scheduled with monthly parties and sanctioned events I hope everyone will find time to attend. Our February and March parties will be held at Silky's and at the Esplanade which will keep party costs down for the krewe since bar service and entertainment are already provided on site. Ennead's fund raiser will be held on April 26th, chaired by Bob Laurie. We will be hosting a Trivia Party. So if your head is full of what you might think is "trivial" information, come on and get a team together to compete. There will be prizes awarded. More details will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead. I very much want and expect to see a large Ennead membership turnout for our fund raiser since we won't be competing with March Madness this year. Happy Carnival Season Everyone! Carolyn
