Chair's comments

Dear Members-

The September Speakeasy Murder Mystery was a wonderful event. Joyce Hufford did an outstanding job coordinating the evening.  The colorful costumes of the flappers flashed as they rubbed shoulders with the mobsters all of whom were gathered to celebrate the grand opening of  Don Wannabe’s (aka Bill Albans) “4 Deuces”. The party was rocked when the lights flickered, the room went dark, and the sound of a single gunshot rang out.  When the lights came on again, there lay Big Jim Ravioli (aka Charlie Crumby) dead. But why?  Who shot him? It was an evening full of accusations flying back and forth until it was revealed that Big Jim’s own daughter, Rebecca Ravioli (aka Belinda Pittman) shot her father to get her greedy hands on his entire estate.  There was much laughter as the attendees played their assigned parts to the hilt.  The Grand Prize Winner was Nancy Williams. There have been lots of positive comments about how much fun this party was. Thanks, Joyce, and to all those who helped create the perfect atmosphere. To view photos of the party, go to www.ennead.info.

Can it really be Fall? According to the calendar it is, and Ennead is ready with an appealing array of activities from which to choose. The dinner group will find itself at a restaurant of  distinction. Our small groups- Tennis, Spades, Poker and Bridge- will meet at their appointed times. We are starting a Movie Night. Check the details elsewhere in the newsletter. The Wine Party will be held at The Devonshire Clubhouse where we can break out those robust Cabs and rich Merlots. The annual Halloween Party is on Oct. 27th.  Wear what is your most weird and bizarre this year. There will be prizes for the best male and female costumes. We will have a howling good time as we “Monster Mash“ the night away.

On a more serious note, the New Members party is coming up in November.  Here is a link to a form which you will need to fill out for someone you’d like to have attend this party and send it to Vickie Rivers.  Guests should be individuals who you think would be seriously interested in joining Ennead. Guests are by INVITATION ONLY. Members are not to bring dates! Let’s not create an embarrassing situation by having to turn someone away at the door for not having a formal invitation from Ennead.

If you are planning to invite someone to this party or act as a sponsor for an applicant at any time, please be sure that you share with the potential member what The Grand Krewe of  Ennead represents in the local community as well as within Carnival Memphis.  Ennead’s membership is comprised of professional men and women over the age of 30 who are legally single. Through the various fun-filled monthly events offered through Ennead and the parties held by the other Krewes affiliated with Carnival Memphis, members can develop new friendships and interests. Volunteering for Krewe committees and assisting with Ennead’s fundraising efforts on behalf of Carnival’s Children’s Charity Initiative can be a personally fulfilling and worthwhile experience. Yes, we do have a good time but the Krewe thrives based on the efforts of members willing to give of themselves. Members get more out of Ennead by being involved.

Have a great October everyone! Here’s hoping your favorite football team is having a winning season!!

Carolyn
