Chair's comments Dear Members- We truly had a wonderful New Member Recruitment Party. The 19th Century Club looked lovely, decorated by Belinda Pittman and her crew. The food by The Merry Cook was tasty. The wine flowed and the music by the E-Band got our feet tapping and dancing. Registration of our members and guests went smoothly due to the efforts of Vickie Rivers, Mary Rea and all their helpers. Thanks to everyone and also to those who stayed afterwards to clean-up. But we cannot rest on our laurels. If you invited someone to attend our party as a guest believing that the individual would be a serious prospective member, it is YOUR responsibility to follow up with that guest and promote Ennead by encouraging him or her to attend further events. I met many very nice people but these are your friends, and you invited them, I hope, because you thought they would enjoy being members of the Krewe. Let’s keep the momentum going with phone calls and personal notes acknowledging their attendance. Our Thanksgiving Potluck was, in a word-delicious! Mary Pat Custer as usual did a fine job coordinating the menu. There was so much to choose from on the groaning tables. Accolades to Vickie Rivers for hosting the event. She does it with such ease!! Everyone who attended went away well-satisfied. As we wind up our year, our next BIG evening is our Black Tie Christmas Gala on December 15th at the Memphis Country Club.( See the details elsewhere in the newsletter.) I hope many people take advantage of cocktails and a special dinner at the Club prior to the dance. You can sit together with your favorite Ennead buddies and savor the warmth and good cheer of the holiday season. Coming up on January 19th is Ennead’s 2008 Coronation. The planning committee has already set the wheels in motion for what will prove to be a splendid, memorable evening as King Ennead XVIII, Queen Sahara XVIII and their Royal Court are introduced to the Krewe and the other Krewes of Carnival Memphis. (Newer Ennead members please note- Ennead’s coronation is the first one of the Carnival Memphis season.) It is an exciting evening not to be missed. It is my wish for the New Year as the Chairman of Ennead that we can all come together and make meaningful contributions that will help support the Krewe in 2008. There are always jobs that need doing. So if you are called upon to help, I hope you say "Yes". The Committee Chairmen are listed on the website www.ennead.info and you can call on your own to say-"I’d like to help". This is a great way to meet people. And isn’t that what Ennead is all about- sharing time with some fine and special people who comprise Ennead’s membership. Happy Holidays to My Fellow Members. God Bless Us, One and All- Carolyn | |
