Chair's Comments

YOU MAKE ME WANT TO SHOUT!!!!

As Ennead's Chairman, I want everyone to know how proud I am to head up such a dynamic group of people. I am awed by the devotion and energy exhibited by the membership when it comes to Ennead's participation in so many areas. I am grateful to all of you who step up to get things done and done well.

Members of Ennead have really been busy collecting trophies at recent Carnival Memphis krewe events!! Their outstanding talents as singers, bowlers and thespians have been rewarded. Congratulations to the winners at the Phoenix Karaoke Party, the Combined Krewe Bowling for Kids and Ptah's Black Tie and Tennis Shoe (BTTS) Ball-did you know we won 1st Place!! Many thanks to all the participants who have sung and made us laugh with their renditions of famous songs, the bowlers who struck and spared their way to wins at the Bartlett Lanes, and to the statues and paintings which came to life and the flash of the Can-Can dancers during Ennead's BTTS entry- our spin on  "Night at the Museum". From what I have heard, we won top prize hands down! I also want to recognize all those who got the singers, bowling teams and the performers of the Black Tie and Tennis Shoe skit put together. Joyce Hufford, Vickie Rivers, and Llana Smith deserve a special nod for all their hard work in creating Ennead's concept/skit submission for BTTS. And I also want to thank the members of Ennead who came out to support the efforts of their fellow members at these events.

Our Trivia Challenge fund raiser was a success. The fund raiser Chairman Bob Laurie and his committee did a splendid job coordinating the evening's activities. Special thanks to Mike Beck for acting as our Triviameister and DJ. Kudos to Bob and his committee and to all who supported Ennead's efforts to raise money for the Children's Charity Initiative through donations of time-working registration, behind the bar and selling tickets, providing door prizes and auction items and giving generously. Fund raisers are always complex events to organize with many details to manage, and all associated with handling those details are to be commended. Hip Hip Hooray!!

The month of May will be full of Ennead and Carnival Memphis gatherings and as always I hope that everyone can attend as many of these events as possible. Mark your calendars. The May members party will be our traditional Kentucky Derby Party to be held at Charles Boone's home, so get ready to pick your favorite horse(s) and sip some smooth bourbon-mint julep, anyone? The Carnival Memphis 5K is joined with the Phoenix Games on May 10th and is always fun for not only krewe members but for family members as well. So come and cheer on the 5K runners/walkers and Phoenix Games competitors.

Carnival Memphis is in full swing, and the Ennead court has a full schedule of events to attend. They are a devoted group and are representing the krewe wonderfully well. Thanks to you all.

Carolyn
