  • Chairman's Comments

    Dear Krewe,

Hello!  Our Annual Business Meeting is Saturday, August 8, at the Memphis Country Club, at which time we elect three men and three women to serve  two-year terms.  The business portion of the meeting will start at 6:30 pm, cocktails at 6:00 pm.  We’ll party afterwards with music by Backstage Pass.  Be there and bring your friends!

Any member who is unable to attend the meeting may easily vote absentee. Members may obtain a ballot by contacting the Chairman at 767-2127 or email robiehoffman@hotmail.com.  Per the bylaws, ballots must be received on or before Wednesday, August 5.  Mail ballots to Ennead, P. O. Box 72165, Memphis, TN 38187-2165.  If time will not permit mailing you may hand deliver your ballot to me.

This is my last news letter; I am a little elated and a little sad.  It has been my distinct honor to serve the Krewe as your chairman.  Thanks to the hard work of Ennead members, our parties and major events were sensational.  The January Coronation was magnificent.  For the first time Ennead joined with the other Krewes and together with Carnival Memphis raised over $55,000.00  for the selected children’s charities.  Our Clubroom was marvelous and our smaller events, wine parties, bridge, game night, happy hour dinner group, and other events are equally enjoyed by our members.  Ennead’s Royalty represented us in the finest tradition and won almost every event and contest.  We almost won it all!  Ennead is a unique organization for singles and plays an important role in Carnival Memphis.

It is the members of Ennead that make Ennead a great organization.  We know how to work, we know how to play and we know how to party!

We have done all of this on a very tight budget.  I am very pleased to say as of this date we are under budget.  Several of our members have played a major role in watching the numbers and achieving our goals; many thanks!

I leave you with two thoughts.  First, we need to increase our membership by adding forty to fifty year olds to our organization.  New members will bring fresh ideas and their friends who may also join.  The members are the heart and soul of our organization.  My second thought is that Ennead needs your help and ideas.  Offer your support and get involved in the workings of Ennead and you will increase your friendships, have more fun and help Ennead to become a greater Krewe.  Let’s work together!

Thanks to everyone for your help and support.  You are a great group of friends.  I could not have done it without all of you!

    Godspeed,
    Robie

    Ennead Board Election Process

In accordance with the bylaws of Ennead ARTICLE IV, Section 1, "There shall be an annual election of three (3) men and three (3) women as members of the Board of Directors for a term of two (2) years". This system provides for an element of continuity as well as the injection of new ideas and energy from the incoming Board members.

Phase One - Nominating of Candidates
A nominating committee of the six (6) most recently elected Board members shall recruit and nominate at least five (5) men and five (5) women for the Board vacancies. An official notice of the candidates will be given to the general membership by Saturday July 4, 2009. Additionally, nominations will be accepted from the floor. This requires a petition of at least twenty (20) members in good standing of the Krewe.

    Phase Two - Voting
The Voting Process: The election will take place at the Memphis Country Club, Saturday August 8, 2009. All official ballots will be counted immediately following the voting at the Annual Business Meeting.

    HOW TO VOTE ABSENTEE:
In the event any member knows in advance that he/she will be unable to attend the Annual Business Meeting, he/she may personally request an absentee ballot from the Chair, Robie Hoffman. The absentee ballot must be completed and mailed by the requesting member to the Krewe mailing address, to be received no later than the Wednesday preceding the Annual Business Meeting. Email ballots are unacceptable. Deadline: Wednesday, August 5, 2009.

    Membership Chair's Comments
We need all the members to recruit quality people for Ennead. Just think, if "each one, recruits one" then we could double our membership.  Show off Ennead by bringing a membership-eligible friend to our August 8th meeting. As a non-member, they cannot attend the business meeting but can enjoy the party afterwards. You can get a membership application online at www.ennead.info on the "About Us" page; from any board member; or by contacting me, David Brockmann, at 323-4205 or email brockmanndavid@hotmail.com.
