Chair's Comments

Hey  Krewe,

We had a great PARADE! The Krewe members, and I want to thank Marion Marr and her committee for putting our parade on the street. It was fun and the crowds were great. Thank you for the parade pre-party.  You did a great job!   

The Coronation ceremonies were magnificent with different, interesting  themes.  Leading up to Carnival week are many events and special occasions.   April is a crazy time of year!  April 4 is the Phoenix’s Karaoke party.   It’s a blast!  Escape to the 1940’s for Ptah’s Black Tie-Tennis Shoe Boogie Woogie Bugle Ball.  Get out your Zoot suits, army duds, exotic hats & cigarette holders and be ready to party with the Plaintiffs.  Each Krewe performs skits.  It’s a contest of wits and creativity, and a good helping of wholesome fun.  Faces will light up with smiles when everyone sees the best decorated tennis shoes contest! 

April 18th, take a cruise around the world, eat great food, hear great music, bid on fabulous silent and live auction items and help three fantastic Mid-South Charities.  The 2009 Children’s Charities of Carnival are Memphis Oral School for the Deaf, Streets Ministries, and Youth Villages.   Everyone needs to get involved in our Krewe’s Fundraiser and help Ennead contribute its fair share and more to our Krewe's Charities.  All members are especially encouraged to buy tickets and attend the “Krewe for Kids” Fundraiser.   Advance tickets $50.00 until April 10th.  Regular price $60.00.  Every dollar raised goes toward our mission. Your contributions to Carnival Memphis Charities are tax deductible.  

Let’s place our bets on the children’s charity and don’t forget the Kentucky Derby party in May.  Bill Hunt saddles up to host the party for our Krewe.  Ladies, get your hats ready and fill your glass with a mint julep and get up to speed for the races.    

Getting involved provides a unique opportunity to gain lifelong friendships and associations that carry over into business and civic ventures.  Let’s not forget our prospective new members.  We need to bring one or two of our friends to our Clubroom in June and introduce them to Carnival Memphis and Ennead.  Let’s start working on increasing our membership with qualified prospects, now.  

Let’s take Ennead over the top!

‏Krewes for Kids - April 18, University Club- All proceeds to benefit the 2009 Children's Charities of Carnival

This year we are combining our fundraising efforts with all the other krewes of Carnival Memphis.  We are planning a fun, exciting event that will include music, dancing, food, libations, and a silent and live auction.  The event will be held at the University Club on Saturday, April 18 starting at 7 pm. We are raising money for 3 deserving children’s charities:  Memphis Oral School for the Deaf, Streets Ministries, and Youth Villages.  We want to encourage every member to take part in this fund raising effort because that is our motto….”party with a purpose”!  Here is how you can help.

Restaurant Sponsorships – We are inviting local restaurants to donate samplings of their fare at a booth at the event – Do you know of a restaurant who would be interested participating? Sponsorships – Gold $5,000, Silver $2,500, Bronze $1,000 – Would your company be interested sponsoring?
Advertising in the bid booklet – From $75 - $250 – Would you or someone you know like to buy an ad?
Sponsorship packet contains all the information you will need for Restaurant Sponsorships, Sponsorships, and Advertising. 

Live and Silent Auction items – Bring everything…no item too large or too small. We will have a basket assembly closer to the date.  If you want, you can drop off your items at the home of Marta Vinzant and she will deliver to Carnival Memphis for you.  Contact her at 756-5734 or 289-8091 or marta@ennead.info.  Download the donation form for auction items. Carnival Memphis Memberships on sale:  Carnival Memphis offers membership discounts to Grand Krewe Members:  individual memberships are $50 instead of $75, and family memberships are $100 instead of $150. Every member of a Grand Krewe gets the discount on the Carnival Membership, which entitles them to discounted ticket prices to Carnival events.  The current year royalty who join the Carnival Memphis receive an additional discount on tickets to carnival events.
