Marta's Memo
The Royal Court has been representing us well at all the Carnival Coronations.  There are still 2 more coronations in March, so be sure to see the schedule in this newsletter and plan to join us in supporting the other Carnival Krewes.

I’d like to thank everyone involved in making our Wild Cajun Dance Party a huge success.  Dan and his party committee outdid themselves!  I think everyone had a wild fun night.  Thank you goes to CC and her decorating committee for the fabulous decorations, Don for coordinating all the great food, Nancy for serving up the bar, Marion and her volunteers for registration, and those who stayed after the party to help clean up.

For all of you who volunteer to man the registration table at our parties, I’d like to say a special “Thank You”.  Your dedication to making this krewe the greatest does not go unnoticed!

John Goodyear hosted our wine party last month.  A great time was had by everyone.  Be sure to thank our members who offer their homes for these parties.

Our annual fundraiser, Krewes for Kids, is coming up on April 24th.  Please start soliciting and collecting live and silent auction items. Advertising in the bid booklet and sponsorships are also available.  Please bring your items to the wine party this month.   Be sure to contact Barbara Baker if you have any questions.

Marion Marr is in charge of putting our St. Patrick’s Day parade float together.  She is going to need a lot of help putting it together.  She has scheduled some decoration nights, so bring your glue guns, scissors, staple guns, and of course, snacks and libations.  The parade is on the following Sat. March 13th.  We will line up the floats starting at 2:30 and the parade starts at 4:30.  We will end up at Silky O’Sullivan’s to party with all the other krewes.  Everyone is invited to be in the parade.  This is a perfect time to wear your Ennead shirts….preferably the purple ones.

It’s time to dust off the grease paint jars and dig through the costume bins!  Calling all jugglers, dancers, and performers….not really….talent is not required to participate in our Black Tie and Tennis Shoe skit.  There are plenty of parts for everyone who wants to participate.  Prefer being in the background?  We’ll need help with costumes and scenery too.  Joyce Hufford has agreed to direct our production again this year and has scheduled our first meeting on Sunday, March 7th at 5:30 pm.  This is a great way to get to know other members better and have fun too.  Black Tie & Tennis Shoe will be held on Sat., April 17th.

Do you know someone who might enjoy membership in our krewe?  Invite them to our next event.

See you next time!

Marta

FUNDRAISING

April 24th Krewe for Kids Auction to benefit Le Bonheur, Knowledge Quest , and Child Advocacy Center will be an exciting evening of fun, music, and, of course, the opportunity to get some great deals. The first business is to find some great items for the silent and live auctions. Because of limited space (and to make sure there is plenty of time for partying), we are combining some of the items into packages and baskets. Ennead has been asked to deliver 10-15 donation items so let’s get thinking about some innovative ways to raise money for our charities. I will be coordinating the items along with Dan and CC Meyers.  If you have any questions about how to present the items in the best light, give me a call.

All items with the paperwork must be submitted by Wednesday, April 7th 5 pm to be included in the auction booklet.  Items after that date will be accepted up until the 21st but no recognition will be given.  The March and April Wine Parties will be a great time to bring items.  You can contact me at 901-483-7365 or bbaker483@comcast.net and I will be glad to provide contracts for sponsorships, advertising, and/or auction donations.  Closer to the event, we will be needing volunteers to help with auction table monitoring. Thanks for participating in the Carnival Children's Charity Initiative.
