Marta's Memo

I’d like to thank Marion Marr and everyone involved in creating the best float for the St. Patty’s Day parade.  The Egyptian guy made a great leprechaun, but not quite as good as Dancin’ Dan. The royal court and all their subjects threw beads and candy to the crowds along Beale Street.  It was a little chilly, but the rain held off.  We wished we had captured our runaway float on film, but the tale of how it came loose from the hitch and ran off into Audubon Park is still keeping us in stitches.

Our wine parties, like happy hour and dinner group, are for members and prospective members only.  These events are perks of membership in Ennead and give our members the perfect opportunity to invite prospective members to come meet us and get to know more about our organization.  If you have brought visitors to these events and they have attended 3 or more, please ask them to join.  Thank you Michelle Kornberger for hosting our March wine party.  A great time was had by everyone.  There was some great food, guys!  If you would like to host a wine party, please contact Donna at 756-1716.

The coronations are over for this Carnival year, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t a lot of events to attend.  We had a great representation at Phoenix’s Karaoke party.  Julie Eaves won first place for best female performer and Walt Henley won second place for best male performer.  Even though we didn’t win in the group category, we were all winners just for giving it our all.  And our Egyptian guy was transformed once again into “My Guy”.

I’m looking forward to participating in the Black Tie and Tennis Shoe skit on April 17th.  I believe we have a record number of members getting involved this year and I think that is awesome!!  For all of you who are not in the skit, please plan to attend to give us support and cheer us on.

Our annual fundraiser, Krewes for Kids, is coming up on April 24th.  Please get your last minute auction items to Barbara Baker, our Fundraising Chairman.   If you haven’t already, please purchase your tickets online at www.carnivalmemphis.org.  You don’t want to miss our annual fundraising event.  This is what we are really all about….”partying with a purpose”.

Do you know someone who might enjoy membership in our krewe?  Invite them to join.

See you next time!

Marta

FUNDRAISING

April 24th Krewe for Kids Auction to benefit Le Bonheur, Knowledge Quest , and Child Advocacy Center will be an exciting evening of fun, music, and, of course, the opportunity to get some great deals. The first business is to find some great items for the silent and live auctions. Because of limited space (and to make sure there is plenty of time for partying), we are combining some of the items into packages and baskets. Ennead has been asked to deliver 10-15 donation items so let’s get thinking about some innovative ways to raise money for our charities. I will be coordinating the items along with Dan and CC Meyers.  If you have any questions about how to present the items in the best light, give me a call.

All items with the paperwork must be submitted by Wednesday, April 7th 5pm to be included in the auction booklet. Items after that date will be accepted up until the 21st but no recognition will be given.  The April Wine Party, Happy Hour and Dinner Group will be a great time to bring items. You can call me at 901-483-7365 or bbaker483@comcast.net and I will be glad to help with everything.

Thanks,

Barbara Baker, Fundraising Chairman

A Special Note

I want to thank all of those who offered condolences and concern during the recent loss of my son, Jamie Witt.  My family and I appreciated the food, flowers, prayers, and personal kitchen helpers who made the time easier to endure.  Jamie’s father was also very touched by the outpouring of affection for all of us at the visitation.

Sincerely,

Holly
