Gosh, here it is the first of May already.  As usual, the year is quickly going by.

Congratulations to all the people who participated in the Black Tie and Tennis Shoe skit.  The duties of directing the skit were handled by Llana Smith who did a great job.  All the participants worked hard, and the final production was awesome.  Thanks to Llana and to all the other participants.  You represented Ennead very well.

Derby Charlie
Ennead Chairman

The Krewe continues to raise money for Carnival’s Children’s Charity initiative.  If you have not donated or wish to write another check, please mail it to our Post Office box or give it to one of the Board members.  We are all trustworthy.

This past month was filled with a number of parties and other activities for our members.  We will start May with our traditional Kentucky Derby Day party at the home of Bill Hunt.  See elsewhere in the Newsletter for more details on this fun event.  The KY Derby Party is always a fun time, and I urge all of you to attend.  Thank you, Bill, for hosting this.

Hope that each of you has a great May!

Charlie

Ennead needs YOU!

A lot of involvement goes into keeping our organization a place to have fun at the many parties and activities that it provides.  And only a handful of members do all the work. Unless you truly get involved in helping, you really don't get the full benefit of membership and it is the best way to really get to know your fellow Enneadians.  Please keep this in mind and step up to volunteer.

*Message from Betty Reschenberg:
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the Ennead members who attended the Fundraiser in March and supported our commitment to Children’s Charities. It was a great party, a successful event and all who attended had a wonderful time.
The Fundraiser would not have been a success without the support and hard work of a great group of people. The core group, Jimmy Humphreys, Tayloe Nickey, Dan Bowlin, Susanne Taylor. Mary Rea, Nancy Williams, Sara Qualls and Marta Vinzant, were just incredible.  All I had to do was ask any one of them to accomplish the task at hand. I know they got tired of hearing “would you please ……?”
I also want to gratefully thank the following committee chair people. Susanne Taylor’s invitations were fantastic, and a special thank you to Lynn Maxted, Ellen Patrick, Jimmy Humphreys, Holly Randolph, Susanne Taylor, and Susie Sargent for addressing and “stuffing” over 350 invitations in brown paper bags all in one evening!! Mary Rae’s innovative and fun decorations were a great hit. What she and her committee accomplished on a shoestring budget was amazing. The “table snacks” were a huge success, thanks to Kathy Jacobs, Joyce Laws and Andy Anderson. Kathy and Joyce, the presentation was great. Shirley Lawson coordinated and assigned jobs to all who volunteered to help. Tayloe took over the “bar” with the help of Charlie Crumby and Bud Cowgill.  Bob Laurie helped with the staffing.
Our entertainment was AWESOME! Dexter Tutor and the Rapscallions Revisited kept us on the floor dancing and our wonderful emcee Mike Beck kept us upbeat and going the whole evening. Thanks to Mike our auction was a HUGE success with some great assistance from Dexter and Danny Bowlin. BRAVO to Danny for a tremendous job well done as the entertainment chairman. And speaking of tremendous jobs well done, Marta Vinzant coordinated the involvement of our three charities with a helping hand from Jimmy Humphreys. The STARS made by the children were a huge success!  Also, we owe Marta thanks for the wonderful Ennead items we have been selling as part of our fundraising effort (don’t forget to order new shirts for summer).
Karen McLaren and Debbie Callahan, as usual, made the registration desk look effortless. These two ladies deserve special recognition for their continued support for all our events.
I would be very remiss by not mentioning the donation to Children’s Charities through Ennead by FedEx Corporation in the amount of $16,500. Their generosity and support carries a great impact. A special thank you to Linda Pappas who pursued and acquired this for the third year in a row.  In addition, Jimmy Humphreys, Charles Boone, Jerry Michie and Tayloe Nickey ... many thanks for your ongoing generous support.
Our attendance by other Krewes was really great thanks to Nancy Williams’ constant communication with them. And if it had not been for Sara Qualls, with help from Kathy Jacobs and Cathy Welsh, the auction would not have been the spectacular success it was. Hip Hooray ladies!!
THANKS TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU THAT SHOWED UP TO WORK AND SUPPORT THE COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN! Please know you are greatly appreciated. Finally, thanks to the members of the Board of Directors for their help and support.
