Chair's comments

The membership has spoken. The torch has been passed. The Grand Krewe of Ennead begins another year. The newly seated Board of Directors and Executive Board are committed to serving the krewe to the best of its ability. As Ennead’s new Chairman, I appreciate and welcome the responsibility placed upon me to help guide the Board in carrying on the traditions of Ennead and to implement only well-considered changes deemed to be in the best interests of the krewe.

Please contact the Board members with your questions and suggestions.

Looking around the room at the Annual Business Meeting, I saw a diverse and dynamic membership with a wealth of talent and expertise in numerous areas of business and personal interests that need to be tapped to keep Ennead the best krewe of Carnival Memphis. It is my hope that the spirit of volunteerism and cooperation will bring us all to a better understanding of what Ennead represents within the community of Carnival Memphis and to draw us together to make our gatherings, large and small, special and memorable. Just a little effort by many makes for a stronger krewe.

I encourage each member to expand his/her circle of contacts within Ennead. We all tend to hang around with the people we know from our small event groups, but make a promise to yourself to greet someone you don’t know at every event. You never know what you might have in common! Don’t be shy! A great conversation can begin with a simple, "Hello. I am glad to see you here".

Please keep yourselves informed about what is happening. We have a wonderful monthly newsletter you need to read, and an easily accessible website (www.ennead.info) you can look up information about the krewe with the stroke of a few computer keys.

Speaking of what is happening. . . due to the hard work of former Board member Joyce Hufford and current Board member Vickie Rivers, we have a great Fall line up of parties. This month our Speakeasy Murder Mystery at Wyndyke CC should test all our super sleuthing abilities.

October will see Ennead’s salute to the garish and the ghoulish. November is our New Member Party where we have the chance to promote our wonderful krewe to prospective members.

Last, but not least, in December we will hold our elegant Dinner/Dance at the Memphis Country Club, a special evening not to be missed. (* The prize for the winner of the Murder Mystery party will be 2 free tickets for the dinner at the Memphis Country Club Christmas party.*)

So mark your calendars, start shedding the summer blahs, and let’s have a great year, everyone.

Carolyn
